According to Plato the chain cave man cannot see the real thing, just the shadow pass by it. This refer to the fact that he sees only his preconceptions-what he imagines the reality to be like. The chain, symbolise their metaphysics that distorts the reality. My social images, which relate to homelessness and my accompany audio material I would like to raise awareness about the contradiction between our notion of moral values and the reality that we create by our action. In modern society, individuals measured by economic productivity and not by moral human values. In most countries the state builds on and is governed by the economy and not by the basic human needs. This is the reason why we damage our natural environment and why more and more people are suffering from mental illness or are homeless.
Homelessness is a product of our system, in the native form of the society or in the communist era homelessness did not exist.
I will display my photographs inside boxes and the viewer can look at them trough small holes. With the help of the box and the sound material I will embodied the separation between our notion of our moral values and the objective reality. My pictures are fragments of the real world, a raw depiction of modern society. Therefore the boxes can be understood as Plato’s realm of the eternal reality, that we can know through observation and contemplation. The audio material therefore can be interpreted as Plato’s cave as this represent our mind and how we see and interpret reality.
I would like to reconnect the two realms, so our thoughts and the real world became one again, this process aloud us to create a better future.
